Spider Webs

My pumpkin grew its own spider webs and just in time for halloween. It was really considerate of it to do that, yet really gross. Nothing like pulling off the lid and a huge ball of white and black fuzz following it...
My boys wanted me to dress up with them so I borrowed Daxon's wig and threw the rest of the clothes together five minutes before we left to trick-or-treat. I am almost convinced to make my real hair into dreads. The boys ended up with a ton of candy and most of it will end up being thrown away. I am mean, I know, but my boys already have too much energy.
I made some banana bread the other day, and the best part of it is the dough. I don't like dough, but my boys take after my husband and chow it down.
By the way, does anyone have any advice for weaning a child off binkies? Shane did fine when we took the bottles away from him but we are having quite the time with the binkies... I am all ears!

No ideas for binkies... Sophia's still sleeping with hers' and I don't even really care any more. :) I meant to say before--- that is the COOLEST pumpkin I've seen this Halloween. And the mold definitely adds something special.

Chanel...I love the moldy pumpkin. It really adds! I also am comletely with you on the throwing the candy away. I have to admit though it has been a great bargaining tool the last 24 hours. I recall myself telling the boys last night "Get back in your beds or I am taking all your candy away!" It worked quite to my advantage. Good luck with the binky weaning...I am sorry I don't have any good advice.

I know that you don't know me, but as far as binkies- we cut the tip off our my daughters. I've also heard of "mailing" it away to another child or having the "binky" fairy come and take it and leaving a prize. Hope those help. good luck.

The pumpkin looks perfect. Even though it was gross, who would have ever thought mold could be such an effective decorating tool? We give Halloween candy one week or until is become so gluttonous it sickens me. After that it mysteriously disappears. We tell the kids it is another one of the tooth fairy's jobs: getting rid of stuff that ruin teeth. On another Halloween note, your mom and sister were too cute at the Halloween carnival.

Now for the binkie. When number one was about nine months, she handed me the binkie and never wanted it back. So, I could not figure out what everyone was complaining about; it was so easy. perhaps it was my superior child or incredible mothering skills. Child number two brought me back to reality. We would try to hide them; she found them. We would throw them away: she would have a fit and I would, in a moment of weakness, run to the store and buy more. This went on for some time. It just VERY GRADUALLY stopped, over time. My other two did not even like the binkie. They thought I was their binkie (NOT recommended.) So did any of that help? Maybe this is why I am not writing advice columns in Parenting Magazine.

You guys looked so cute for halloween. It will be fun when you live closer. I went to build a bear with bryn and had her put all the binkeys in the animal she wanted. She choose a cat and we named it binkey. Every time she asked for her binkey I gave her the cat :) haha!!

cute halloween family!! my advice for binkies: at one year take them away and never look back. shane will totally forget about it in 3-5 days. but it will be 3-5 days of pure h#*%. that is what we did.

good luck

Do you have a picture of the entire pumpkin? Looks like it was creatively decorated - which is no surprise. As far as the pacifier is concerned, I was content to let Ryli have it when he slept until the other day he was so upset he had to take a nap he threw it across the room, cried for a bit and never wanted it again. Maybe luck is involved? Wish I had more to offer.

what is your email address and I will send you a picture of Dax and Max, isn't it the cutest picture! As for the binkie I don't know Max just stopped wanting it one day and that was it. I think just throw them away and eventually he'll get over it. p.s. I love your pumpkin

Take him to the store and let him pick out a toy to buy with the binkie.

Chanel, let me know what works with the binky situation. Caden is 2 weeks away from turning 3 and still sleeps with his binky. Scott has been ready to throw it away for a long time. But we are always traveling, and I don't want to have anyone else have to listen to him scream all nite long. This kid is seriously attached to his binky. I'm getting scared.

Well, with the binky situation we cut the tip off of Ali's when she turned 2 and she got mad when it kept falling out of her mouth and finally threw it against the wall in anger. Luckily that was the worst. As for Chaz, we just had it disappear and he didn't seem to be desperate for it (Chaz is so easy). Good luck!! The pumpkin is hilarious because it reminded me of our situation. They get so gross.
